What is Truth?2 min read

What is truth

Truth is an essential part of life; without it, we cannot claim to know anything. Indeed, knowledge is sometimes defined as justified true belief. It is what stands against the lies of the devil; it is from God, and should be sought after until discovered. Sometimes it is hard to find, and many times harder to accept, but once it is found and accepted, it liberates your mind from false knowledge, which really isn't knowledge anyway.

Most philosophers would agree with the view that truth is what corresponds to reality. If I say "my dog ate my homework," in order for that statement or proposition to be true, it must have actually happened in real life—the statement corresponds with reality. Others try to say that truth is what coheres with a fact we know, or that it is what helps in explaining a particular fact in the world or what works, but these two views are lacking—although neither of the three views is entirely complete. At best, they each have something to offer in terms of understanding what truth is. The harder question is, how do we find what is true, or better yet, know that we have found it?

Well, Jesus said that He is the Way, the TRUTH, and the Life, and that no one comes to the Father but through Him. So, not only is Jesus the bearer and speaker of truth, He Himself is the truth and embodies it because He is God, and God and His Word are true (John 17:17). We, therefore, are not only able to know the truth intellectually, but also experientially through Christ. But how do we know that? You may like to read through Lee Strobel's "The Case for Christ," J. Wallace's "Cold Case Christianity," or M. Foreman's "How Do We Know?"

So, do you know the One who claims to be the Truth? Do you know Jesus? Have you been convinced that He is the One true God, and that Christianity is true? If not, look around TruthInformed.com and, with an open mind, ask yourself, "Could this really be true? God help me to know what is true. Reveal yourself to me today as I seek to know you and your Son Jesus Christ. Amen."

God Bless You!
